Sara Sparrow came to modern circus through a background as a gymnast, an actor and performer in musical theater, and as a classically-trained singer and musician. she has a distinctive and original awkward grace that permeates her solo work. a malleable character actor with a wide range of abilities and interests, she is entranced by the collaborative effort of performer and audience, and the unparalleled possibility of circus arts. she has performed professionally as an multi-disciplinary aerialist, an acrobat, a hand balancer, foot juggler, carpet-spinner, chair stacker, parasol-twirler, musician, singer, dancer, showgirl, clown, actress, and chicken. she is the owner of Sparrow Studios school for aerial arts in Olympia, WA.
noteworthy engagements and employers include Seattle’s Teatro ZinZanni with duo Levity; Animate Objects Physical Theater, TEDx Rainier, EnJoy Productions, USC Events; with the Aerialistas at Friedrichsbau Variete in Stuttgart DE, and Teatro Circo Price, Madrid and Bilbao, Spain.
Sara has also produced and directed several shows, including her own solo show Wee Small (2016), Sparrow Studios’ Petrichor (2017), and Murmurations’ Cirq Profond (2018).
